Cloud Storage – Helpful Tips

All businesses, irrespective of size, store data on their laptops, PC’s and (if present) file server. This is all well and good, and usually fundamental to the operation of the firm, but we would always recommend that you have a backup of this data in case disaster strikes. Such disasters can take many forms and sizes, such as a dropped laptop containing valuable data, a stolen PC, a failed hard drive or even worse, fire or flood!

One way to mitigate the effects of these disasters is to have your data stored in the Cloud, and this is usually called “Online Cloud storage”. If you do a quick Google search you will be inundated with many different suppliers that offer services in this area and choosing one that fits your needs both functionally and financially can be a time-consuming and costly process.

As an IT Services provider ourselves, we would recommend that you ask your own provider to recommend one or two that would fit the bill. If they’re doing their job right, they will know your business requirements as well as you do (from a data perspective). One service provider that can recommend as a great starting point would be Dropbox, they offer many tariffs and features within the Cloud storage arena. These services are scalable, affordable, reliable you can feel safe in the knowledge that the service itself is encrypted by a fully ISO27001 compliant solutions provider.
